Nickelodeon has launched a new interactive site Nicktropolis.com. They believe that this new site won’t take away form their other sites, in particular Nick.com. Nickelodeon said the new site would allow instant interactivity between users as Nick.com only allows interactivity between viewers using message boards. The site will have games, video and users can also create their own rooms.
“Nickelodeon was prompted to join the surging world of online activities for children in part by research that showed that 86 percent of 8- to 14-year-olds were playing games online, more than 51 percent were watching TV shows and videos online and 37 percent were sending instant messages, the company said.”
I think this is a great move for Nickelodeon, not only for their target their market, but also as an advertising platform.
