So just as the massive hype of the iPhone scales down, it has been put back into the media spotlight. Questions are being raised at to whether the iPhone will show us the “Real Internet”?
Will it be able to display Flash and Java? I have read articles that have differing answers. Steve Jobs was asked if this new Apple product would in-fact show Flash or Java?
His response “Java’s not worth building in. Nobody uses Java anymore. It’s this big heavyweight ball and chain.”
For Flash his response was “Well, you might see that.”
So Apple have recently teamed up with YouTube to display video content through Apple’s iTV. If there is no Flash then no YouTube, right?
Wrong! Jobs response to YouTube being played on the iPhone “Yeah, YouTube—of course. But you don’t need to have Flash to show YouTube. All you need to do is deal with YouTube. And plus, we could get ‘em to up their video resolution at the same time, by using h.264 instead of the old codec.”
Other information to come out about the iPhone is there is no blue-tooth or WiFi. Syncing and charging will be done through a docking station the same as the iPod.
For the Aussie we will have to still wait a little longer before seeing this phone on our stores. You may also have to reconsider your mobile phone provider as rumors are that Telstra are to be the chosen provider.
I’m a massive Apple fan, but I’m really undecided at this product.
