If you’re an avid fan of television shows and watching obscure documentaries, then you may already be stoked about the introduction of Netflix in Australia. The popular website originated in the US, and grants you access to a broad range of shows for a monthly subscription fee. But don’t be fooled into thinking it’s similar to cable subscriptions such as Foxtel… Unlike previous subscription based entertainment providers, Netflix is not tethered to the tele screen. Instead, it allows the user to stream online content straight to their computers, or any other household appliances that can connect to internet browsers. To flesh out the effects netflix will have on consumer choice, and other entertainment providers, was Marc C-Scott a lecturer in digital media and coordinator of the Bachelor of Interactive Media at Victoria University.
