An article published in the San Francisco Gate reports the increase of people turning away from the tube to watch online content. The example of this is a college student who over hears other students talking about an episode about “World of Warcraft” of South Park. That night he watches the episode online.
Joe Laszlo, a senior analyst at Jupiter Research “found that 46 percent of males ages 18 to 24 with broadband access watched “online video heavily” and, as a result, spent less time watching television.”
I have always been for the move from “The Tube” to “The Net”. I do see there will be concerns of the TV studios of how can they tell people what’s available. The answer to this is quiet simple. It only take a few people to see an episode of a TV show. They tell a few friends, who tell a few friends.
Shows like “Jackass” began as emails send around. One problem with this format of broadcast, is there may not be a mass audience viewing as we see in traditional TV broadcast. Is this a bad thing for advertisers?
